About the Journal

The Journal of Undergraduate Research in Calgary (JURC) is a peer-reviewed, open access academic journal dedicated to publishing original scholarship by undergraduate students at the University of Calgary and universities in the Greater Calgary Area.

JURC welcomes submissions from undergraduate students across all faculties, including the natural and health sciences, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and the arts. The journal publishes original research articles, literature reviews, case studies, and reflective essays. JURC was founded to address the lack of formal publication opportunities available to undergraduate researchers, and it operates alongside a mission to train a student editorial board in the practices of academic publishing, including manuscript review, editorial decision-making, and the revision process. JURC provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Readers may read, download, and share published articles without charge, subject to the terms outlined below.

JURC is supported by the University of Calgary Students' Union Clubs Office, as it functions as an official SU Club.
